"The Dusk Elven empire is the secondary antagonistic faction (After Zartor and his posse). Jeslore is home to a lot of aesthetics, many races change their style over the years but the cynical dusk elves never changed much. Dusk elves as a whole are heavily inspired by the uglier side of catholicism, with a grimdark, gothic aesthetic. Dusk Elves are a highly cynical race, they have accepted that darkness and agony is part of their racial identity and thus choose not to evolve, even if it would drastically improve their quality of life. 

Dusk Elves are also highly religious, and it's their religious views that indirectly motivates them to conquer their enemies how they do. They view other races, particularly the ones relying on light as weak and want to teach them how to survive in the darkness so that they too may come closer to Kragen, the god of death. 

Ascenda Aveniscii was the 3rd dusk elven empress, being the oldest daughter of Amarus Aveniscii the 3rd, who left no male heirs to the throne. Compared to other emperors and empresses, Ascenda Aveniscii was generally regarded as the best ruler of the empire. Primarily her policies on slavery ended senseless brutality towards owned property to maximize their efficiency. In addition did she shift slave ownership from private ownership to state ownership and remodelled slavery into a form of healthcare; to keep her people happy and lower unemployment, Ascenda passed a system where imperial civilians would find work in construction and logistics, and if they fell sick, slaves would fill their position so that sickness and injury wouldn't slow down production.

Ascenda also forced slaves to parttake in the same religion as the empire in an attempt to convert them. Ascenda also had stronger control over who lead the imperial armies, and made sure that only the most fanatic zealot of Kragen would be allowed to take charge of the imperial war machine."
