Emmerich was born into the Odellian family on Dex[1] 42nd, Tick 5721. His family raised him to become a doctor just like his parents, but at a young age he was shown to have an exceptional level of understanding in math and sciences, so he was instead taken to train among the best medical teams Tervium had to offer, and was given the signature "surgeon hands" with tools built into them to show for it.

As expected from his intense training, he never had the best social skills when talking to others, but still was able to learn two languages to help him speak to other races that the team had to work on. He often still worked alone however, and was able to experiment on many corpses to understand the different races of the galaxy better. He has a special liking for the bodies of the Sqiggians, which are boneless but extremely muscular and are also the hardest to convert to become an Evacandrian soldier out of all the races due to their shape.

When he was offered to harness the power of dark energy, he would always decline. He wanted to keep the golden color of his skin instead of making it turn red, and he also held the faith that technology would evolve past the need for many to experiment with dealing in such dark forces (as doing so could hinder the ability to understand technology at all). This was especially detrimental to him because of his mechanical hands, and the development of the orange colored serum he is often seen either drinking or directly attached to via direct access to his bloodstream.

Emmerich has a crippling addiction to this serum, which he calls "magic" as a joke, that consists of a fixed amount of adrenaline and several other medications to increase his perception and speed in many tasks. The use of this serum has been stated as controversial because of how it could potentially effect his body and his mind, but he has been able to fight it in courts to let him into several academic events and also fencing[2] because he is not using any sort of steroids.

On the topic of fencing, he also is among the best sword-fighters of "The Unseen Hand" fencing team, having been known to be able to take on around 5 enemies at a time with extreme agility. While thrusting is the primary focus of fencing, he usually uses a sabre so that he can slice opponents to allow him to keep moving. The team is also where he met a contracted bounty hunter named Aex, whom he has close contact with as he tends to ask Emmerich a lot of questions relating to the anatomy of the different races in the galaxy.

The man often hides his motivations behind his mask, and does not look at people in the face often. The times he does, however, he wants to make sure he gets his point across and will stop at nothing to ensure of it.

Terms:

[1] - Dex - Term for "Days", the average Tervium day lasts 28.75 human hours. There is no equivalent to months as they view them as unnecessary, so they directly count days in each Tick, or year. A Tick is made up of roughly 383 Dex. There are no weeks or names for the Dex as they are referred to directly as numbers.

[2] - Fencing - Sword fighting is an absolute focus of Evacandrian society. While they also have sports, fencing is held at the highest honor, even when it comes to settling disputes. Firearm-related duels are severely frowned upon because of this.

I have decided to make a reference image of Doctor Emmerich Odellian! I needed to make more reference images of my characters so I decided to do so while modifying his design ever so slightly from Catacomb of Revival to make it look more "Doctor"-y. His face and hair style is still the same though. Stay tuned to see more reference images I do/more character oriented art!
