Mumbeltrousse.

Share

Now for those who don't know him, Mumbeltrousse is the lazy honey dragon from the Gretchen Goosander book. A big, hulking and muscle-packed brute with a heart of gold and more intelligence than anyone ever gives him credit for (seriously, this guy knows nearly all the human languages.) Mumbeltrousse is by far the quietest character as well (I'd say Cwenhild is but she makes a lot of noise, even if it's gibberish), and prefers not to speak to anyone. Rising over 12 feet into the air, he dwarfs even the mightiest of forest monsters.

Honey dragons are enigmatic in themselves and thought to be extinct. One of few remaining phraxai dragons (that's dragons closer to mammals and bird rather than reptiles) they are far more intelligent than the reptiles that preceded them many millennia ago and much better adapted. They gain their name from the honey they spray from their mouths which can be set alight and begins a thermite-like reaction... In other words, it can't be extinguished even by ice-water.

Whoa! This could DEFFINATELY hold it's artistic own with The Legend/Secret/Children of Mana and Final Fantasy Tactics series' artworks (particularly the "Legend of Mana" piece by Ouroporos and Legend of Mana -- Pokiehl the Storyteller Lil' Cactus/Heroine pic)!

The wing span, the expressive eyes, the cross between "fur" and "feathers", the reverse zebra-esque stripes...... it creates an overall impressive pic when added together. And to kick in a quick bio ON this chara. puts a little interest in the book itself (which is a great way to get viewers interested in the books if your a fan yourself).

Finally, a nice HONEY-COLORED background of swirls to top off the art of the Honey DRAGON.

Incredible fantasy dragon art!

Kayas-Kosmos responds:

Wow, thanks for this comment :) It's really encouraging when my work is compared to the likes of things like final fantasy or legend of mana, makes me feel like I could be a game character designer or something X) The book's my own and I'm hoping it gains popularity once it's published, and I just like to snag people in with a little info about the character :)
