“At a young age, Chihana was a member of a very poor and impoverished family. She never knew the meaning of the word luxury growing up as she barely had enough to eat every night. When she was 6, her father noticed the potential for greatness as a warrior, so he began pushing her to train to become a member of the Shiryu Clan's military in the hopes that she would bring them out of their poor lifestyle. 

Wanting to provide for her family, Chihana began training hard to be the best soldier that she could be and at age 7, she awakened the birthright of all Shiryu, the Magatama no Shiryu. She pushed herself in her training to the brink of death and in doing so, pushed her Magatama to transmogrify into the Hoshikage Magatama no Shiryu at age 9. 

It was at this time when she met her lifelong friend and rival Kanu Shiryu, the heir to the throne of the Shiryu. Even though Kanu had everything planned out for her to live an extravagant lifestyle, she struggled to even be a tenth as good as Chihana. Due to this, the girls had become intense rivals as a young age. The lower class Chihana ran circles around Princess Kanu and pushed farther ahead with her dreams while Kanu just couldn't keep up with her pace. 

When she was 10, she was away training with Kanu when her home was robbed. When nothing of value was found the robber killed her parents. When she found out, Chihana blamed herself for not being there and vowed to grow even stronger and protect the innocent.”
