I love how intimate this painting feels. Luna look so natural, and Treebeard looks used to having her there. The two of them look very wise and warm and ready for the world (very Ravenclaw). The colors you used manage to feel dark and warm at the same time, and the lovely lantern increases that intimate feel. I love it!

This is my first time submitting an entry to this competition, so I am not joking when I tell you how nervous I am, having put so much time into this piece.
I have been a fan of Jazza for a long time now and iv'e watched EVERY single of his "challenge of the month" videos.
I have wanted to submit an entry countless times, but fear got in the way. When I then saw the theme of this month, I knew it was time to do this. And so I did ^^
My thoughts when bringing this piece to life:
I knew that I wanted to spark up a feeling of wonder and imagination in the piece.
I wanted the two characters to interact, still, I wanted the backstory to be a mystery, left behind to the imagination of the viewer.
Much like how the books, (which these characters origins from) use written descriptions to paint up a picture in the reader's mind...
... I wanted my drawing to write a story imagined by the viewer.
The two characters, Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter) and Treebeard (Lord of the rings) were perfect for this piece, they both have interesting characteristics which works surprisingly well together. It almost feels like they see the world differently, in a way we mere humans are too stupid to notice, and seeing the two characters together, chatting...
.. you really do wonder what Luna is whispering to Treebeard.

I get the nervousness part very well. I can see you've put lots of thought and effort in this. :)
I must say that I don't know these particular characters that well (it's been years since I read HP books and LotR I haven't even read) but your painting and description gives me a pretty nice idea of them. They seem interesting and I'm glad they've found each others like this!
Though the painting has dark color scheme it still has something very warm in it too. Shading is well done and that golden glow brings the magic in the picture.

Love the feel of the warm glow coming off the lamp illuminating just a small bubble around them, really helps to draw you into the secert conversation between the two.
