I strongly suggest you to avoid doing sprite edits. While they might seem nice at first, you will not improve your abilities at all doing these, plus they will limit all and any kind of artistic merit you could take from them.

The time hoping mutant from Days of Future Past, though Kitty Pryde and Wolverine did that in the comic book and movie separately as well... but he appears in the movie, so that's neat.
