After a long adventure through Vegetable Valley, Ice Cream Island, Butter Building, Grape Garden, Yogurt Yard, and Orange Ocean, Kirby finally reaches Rainbow Resort, home to the Fountain of Dreams ⛲⭐✨
This is the seventh and last piece of my Kirby Anniversary series! I wanted to revisit some drawings I made in 2017 and expand on them. Each is based on a level from the Nightmare in Dreamland GBA remake of the original Kirby's Adventure, the former of which, was my first Kirby game and introduced me to the pink puffball when I was little.
I knew this one was going to be a lot of fun to tackle. I really liked the composition of the original and wanted to keep it but I felt that everything was arranged really well for the more vertical A4 format I used to have. So I took a chance and changed it to have Kirby move farther away, really opening up the space and giving me more to work with. It did take some planning though to make sure that it would still work in a vertical format as well. I didn't intend to have any Waddle Dees around at all. I think the more empty look feels dramatic but at the same time I was sad to no longer see them, especially since I made an effort to always have at least 1 show up in each illustration. So the two you see here were a late addition, hopefully they bring a smile to your face 😄
