This piece depicts a space shuttle being hit by space debris, inspired by the movie Gravity. Compared to my last (and first) digital vector art, this one has a much greater emphasis on lighting and movement. Since it is set in space, sunlight from the left is much harsher than on earth, giving this piece a very unique feel. The way the debris scattered were also carefully considered, since there is no air resistance or gravity in space. The size of the two astronauts (one beside the nose section and another on the end of the Canadarm) are generally correct, giving the viewer a sense on how large the shuttle actually is. The white dots are debris not star.
