Took a swing at painting a still from a movie again.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Love it! What movie is this still from? A movie you should watch that I think would have some great still opportunities is Death Sentence. I know the title makes it sound like some lame B-movie haha But I promise it's not! Well, I think it's decent lol This still you did just reminded me of that film.

Rhunyc responds:

Thank you! I appreciate that. I'll have to check that out. :) I always enjoy visually exciting movies. :D

This piece has problems with color palette and focus. The easy one is color, the main palette of muted violet and muted teal doesn't work well. I do like the color choice of the highlights: red-orange, yellow, and green.

As for focus, my eyes keep being drawn to the background instead of the two men. Normally that would mean you need less detail in the background and more in the mid-ground but I have a feeling you were going for the juxtaposition of the silhouettes against the background. If that's the case, you need to increase the color and/or value difference between the background and the silhouettes. I'd also use more low key lighting on the left guy, and paint some highlights on the faces to show a little expression. The guy on the right could get his highlighting from light reflected by the wall from his flashlight.

Finally, the sense of depth isn't consistent between the left and right side of the piece. On the left we can see at least half a mile away, and it looks like we're on the top of a skyscraper. On the right we can see about twenty feet and it looks like we're in a house with a dark park just outside the window.

You might also want to "cut" the middle wall where the bullet passes through. Seems like the wall is too thick right now, though I can't give you a good reason why.

Rhunyc responds:

Heyy thank you a ton for the meaty review! I really do appreciate it.

Awesome! I like how he shoot without seeing his opponent, the ''gun-kata'' style of fighting, John Wick can remind a lot of Equilibrium. Keep up the good work!

Rhunyc responds:

Thanks a lot, and I agree with you on that! I'll keep trying for sure. :)

Nice! But can't rate 5 because I feel like something is missing... but can't figure out what is it.
Not bad, tho', I like the tree background on the glass door, also the shot is perfectly made, keep it up!

Nice, I love the coloring and background! Was this done as a retro-scope?

Thank you! Aaand, I didn't intend it to be. I've just been having fun with the red/blue layers, to be honest. :)
