On The Stairs

Share

Lexi sat on the stairs, shivering.

"Oh. You must be cold."

Lexi's eyes coming up to meet those of the huge wolf... deer... thing. He was so big that, even with Lexi sitting halfway up the staircase to the second floor of the club, and the taur's lower body lying down, they were still at eye level. She blinked at him in amazement.

"Here, let me help with that." He reached down and pluck up a blanket that was hanging over the back of the couch his lower body was currently reclining on. He brought the blanket up, and with a flourish, whipped it around behind Lexi, before gently lowering it onto her shoulders. "Is that any better? You're more than welcome to come down here, if you'd prefer."

Lexi just stared at him. Her eyes slowly ran down the length of his body: his elegant antlers; his friendly smile; fluffy fur around his neck that she would have wanted to bury her face in, under other circumstances; his reclined torso; his large forepaws. Until her eyes settled on his lower torso.

She could make out a bulge in his gut. She could just make out a small twitch of movement, and she could swear that she could hear muffled shouting coming from inside it. It probably wouldn't have been visible if he hadn't been lying the way he was, and if she hadn't been looking for it.

If she hadn't known that her boyfriend, Lucas, was currently struggling inside.

Lexi hadn't seen it coming at all. She and Lucas had been chatting with the much larger male for over an hour, and he had seemed plenty friendly! Right up until he had suddenly leaned over, grabbed a hold of Lucas with his teeth, and snapped him up. He was gone before Lexi had even fully been able to process what was happening.

"So, you were telling me about your vacation plans. A romantic Paris getaway for the ages, I think you put it. It's been years since I've been to France, but it's beautiful this time of year."

Lexi started as the taur's words jolted her back to the present. Did he really just want to... continue the conversation? As if nothing had happened!?

Lexi swallowed hard. What would happen if she actually acknowledged what had happened? Would he snap her up, too?

"Um... y-yeah. Our, um..." Her eyes lowered down to the taur's belly again. "... our anniversary..."

This was going to be a long night.
