Chloe's Reflection

Share

“Who is that girl I see

Staring straight

Back at me?

Why is my reflection someone I don't know?

Somehow I cannot hide

Who I am

Though I've tried

When will my reflection show

Who I am inside?

When will my reflection show

Who I am inside?”

“Reflection” by Lea Salonga from Mulan

So not gonna lie, this is kinda a first. ^^; Originally, I was gonna have this be vent art, but after discussing it with a friend, I came to the conclusion that it was not worth it and thanks to them, I felt better on the day I was feeling down in the dumps. Afterwards, I’d turned the tables and decided to put this in a new direction: Make music-inspired art because it was something I haven’t done in a while, and the more I was listening to said song, the more I thought about the most relatable character in Miraculous Ladybug, Chloe Bourgeois.

I know it comes to the Miraculous fandom, people tend to either love or hate Chloe and both arguments are valid. If you were to ask me what my opinion on her is, I would say A: Unsure; B: Sometimes love or hate; C: Neutral; or D: All of the above.

However, because of my recent MLB fanart spam, I might as well come clean and tell the story on my whole opinion on Chloe:

When I first got into the show, like the majority of most fans, I detested her big time. I’m not a huge fan of the snobby, annoying, popular girls because they tend to be very one-dimensional or just unlikable in general. However, as time went by and after talking to my BF PrinceKapitan who is a huge Chloe fan himself, I began to understand why people love or even adore Chloe; even if I don’t always agree with them, I can still see their side of the story. Especially in Season 2 where we’re introduced to her Karen bitch of a mother: Audrey Bourgeois. Afterwards, it finally starts to make sense why Chloe is such a snobby bitch. Therefore, we actually got a reason why the blonde rich girl of Paris is so mean and aggravating. Does it excuse all of her actions? Not really, but does it help us understand her personality a little more? Yeah.

TL;DR, in the end, it's sometimes a little hard for me to love Chloe; yet at the same time, I can’t necessarily hate her either. She does have some redeeming qualities and we do understand time by time on why she acts like a bitch. Honestly, after Season 3, who knows where the future’s gonna lie with her? Will she be a permanent villain? Is she gonna remain neutral? Will she go back into being a hero? Time will tell once Season 4 starts.

Enjoy
