Background story:
Leisha, daughter of Lash, God of Order, and Yesha, Queen of the Reptile race, used to think it was fun to travel down to the human world and feed on human souls. Ultimately, she became addicted.
After the loss of his wife, Leisha's father was enraged by his daughter's habits, and by wanting to bring order to the human world, he cursed his own daughter:

“ Tasteful you find the human soul,
now you shall taste the bitter toll.
Eat one more soul and a scale will fall,
though, death will come if you lose them all. ”

Despite being in charge of her own destiny, Leisha couldn't fight her addiction, although she could recall that... she devoured even the soul of her own mother.

In this picture we see Leisha looking at her life getting perished while swallowing a poor soul.

This was a risk but I wanted to go with a female 'grimataur'. Technically these are not 'horns' nor she's that hulky. I made her muscular enough, yet keeping her feminine parts in life. I think she's tall enough though, in relation to the grave cross. (Tip: have a look at it!)

Even after using reference for body/muscles, the result isn't flawless, but I like it. I'm not a pro, but I practice every day for making my dream come true...

Time taken: 6 freaking (and also amazing) days! (more than 30 hours)
Tools: Adobe Photoshop, Wacom Bamboo

Made some updates, both major and minor.
I didn't get mentioned and now I can see clearly why :D

Amazing! She is hulky for her complexion, so i want to say there probbably wont be any trouble with that, but then again, im not a judge :P Amazing. I really liked the shading, the pose, the story, and overal, the originality of it.

Thank you very much! Even though I doubt I will win, it's been a wonderful journey :)

What beautiful overall technique! I love the way her face looks, as well as the scales and the smoke around her makes for a chilling picture overall. I also notice what looks like a makeshift grave to the left; A nice touch :)

Fantastic work! I love the design of the tail and scales and the shading looks really impressive. The eerie and haunting atmosphere supports the creature's design as well.

Nice to read feedback about the background and the atmosphere because it's actually the first time trying it... Thank you very much for your generous comment!

I love your piece! Kudos! How smooth everything looks (I really like that). If you wouldn't have mentioned you're not a professional, it'd never have crossed my mind! I wish you good luck with becoming a concept artist :) and with the challenge, of course (I'm a participant, too ;))
