"The Burden Of Warren Brooks"
Dad's "lucky charm'. Used to make him money until he could buy an old Victorian house and acres of land on a secluded farm.
Just a tool to an end.
He called me not "son" or even "friend".
And I knew he did rotten things to my sister.
Held her down as he forcefully kissed her.
Savagely kicked me in the ribs and threw me out when I refused to give him the accurate predictions for the next horse race. Left me in the torrential downpour with an overcast bleeding face.
I had been on the streets homeless for months before finally coming back.
The blades from his sword collection called forth by my willpower
flew and hovered in the air like owls hunting mice with every slash and every hack.
Adopted by a loving family shortly thereafter........
The secrets left in the shadow of an attic rafter......
I don't entirely justify or condone what I did.....
But I grew tired of my sister suffering and always being hurt
regardless of how well she hid.......
Every magician has a dark past.
All I can do is strive to be a good person
even if "it" finally catches up to me at last......
