The Ophiocordyceps Matangeralis, or MATANGO, has the ability to mutate any host. Unlike the SPACE AMOEBA-YOG it does not leave its host after it dies, it breeds within the host creating spores and mushrooms that can be ingested to start the process again. During its transportation, a passenger accidentally opened a container causing the entire crew to turn into “Mushroom People” as quoted in the notes of the ship’s doctor Alexander Graham. Currently, Monarch has been able to Quarantine the MATANGO and “Mushroom People” on an undisclosed island, with round the clock security to prevent the spread and cause an apocalyptic event.
