Sexual dimorphisms:
-Males sport more vibrant and diverse colors and gain some reds during mating season.
-Females often possess less colorful looks while having larger and more flexible tails.
Food:
-Large “shallow” water fish
Behaviors:
-Releases its thick saliva in water bodies to clog fishes gills.
-Sleeps in a mound of saliva and produces more as it sleeps.
-Active from dusk to dawn on average.
-Uses it’s large, sponge-like, and muscular tail to groom itself.
Habitats:
-Dense forests with large streams or ponds, the more the merrier.
-Often sleeps near or on rocky surfaces if it can.
Common Interactions:
-They most often ignore the presence of althea while feeding or alone.
-They typically act more hostile and aggressive when someone is around near its resting place or partners, spitting saliva in an effort to make them leave.
Miscellaneous:
-Due to their history of being the main cause of a historic deadly pathogen outbreak, they naturally have the most immunity out of most creatures (though they are far from immune). In the modern day they’re often feared by those who don’t know much about them.
-If one is in a public space they are to be immobilized and relocated. Attempts at harm or killing are last resorts by professionals.
