Doomgrounds - Pico Day 2020

Share

HELLO FRIENDS! Happy Pico Day!

I tried recreating the OG Doom Art with NG characters. Hope you enjoy! Still getting used to digital art and recreating the style was a bit tricky, especially considering I tweaked my technique multiple times midway through completion, but I still think it turned out pretty decent. If I had more time I would have made the logo stylised like the original Doom logo, but unfortunately I didn't have time to... :(. Tell me your thoughts below! I look forward to seeing all your totally tubular entries too, so make sure you post them in time!

MrGronk responds:

Glad to be of assistance!

fun fact: pico in Chile means dick

MrGronk responds:

Interesting.....

After this art, Newgrounds became Isabelle's favorite website.

I love the doom art style

MrGronk responds:

Thanks! I tried to emulate the original artist, but he obviously didn't use a digital tablet, he used an airbrush and pencils most likely, so I tried to emulate that somewhat, but I'm still fairly new to digital art, so I'm going to keep practicing!

Pico's face there really does it for me, here. Fucking great.

MrGronk responds:

Glad you like it! Originally he had pupils, but I wanted to give him a kind of maniacal look, and I realised, "hey, Pico's eyes are white", so I took away the pupils and it made him look DELIGHTFULLY EVIL.
