Children in the Empire of Smiles are often recruited into military service out of necessity, typically serving as ranged troops or artillery crews due to their somewhat weaker physical stature. Though often lower paid, their morale tends to be higher due to primarily knowing little else. It is considered a grand reward to be spoken too by a knight, where a pat on the head is customary.
