Yasuho Hirose Water Study

Share

I've been going crazy with drawing lately. Here's a Yasuho with some water and lighting study stuff. Really learning to experiment with different layer styles and what they do.

As always, here is Emilie's wisdom:

I love acting, it's been the most eye opening thing I've ever done. It's made me realize how meaningless comparison is, among many other things. I always used to compare myself to other more 'popular' artist as a kid and it made me feel really bad but since I've started acting and doing casting, I've realized that it is really meaningless. Like I may come to a character a certain way in the same sense as I come to a piece a certain way. Describing a piece is great and all but based on the description of this piece, a million things could come to mind. I also didn't vision the piece looking like this when I sketched it. Another, 'more skilled' artist could draw something with the same concept in mind and draw something different and it may even look worse than mine. In the same way that I can easily fill the role of a villain, I can make this. Someone who is a better actress than I am may have no ability to become a villain the same way a more skilled artist may not be able to make a piece that looks like this. When it really comes down to it, our lives, our personal strengths and just our uniqueness make what we produce to be truly ours and make our journey incomparable to anyone else's.

As a side note in acting, I think I'm finally FINALLY understanding how to audition well. You have to be different than everyone else, show your life in your takes. Being yourself is number one in acting, you cannot pretend or act as someone else, you are you. Same in art, same in life, same in everything. Be yourself and the goodness will come.
