Not bad as an overall idea. If i was to offer some advice, the smooth brushed areas don't really mesh well with Pixel Art. Doing paintbrushes is ok for planning, but it needs to be worked over with a more limited palette. You should be able to look up some guides on places like Pixel Joint, or even look up old console colour palletes for help. But if you want to do a quick fix, consider exporting the GIF with a more restricted palette. Aside from that i do like the idea, but i feel with some tweaks it can be a nice piece of pixel art.
