The beautiful sights, both man made and in nature, that one can overlook every day. I drew this one while I was a senior in high school. To this day it remains one of my proudest pieces.

I don't know if you would classify this as a sketch, however, this is a finished work which I did put a fair amount of time into. It's my favorite style and I wish for it to be seen by a community that gives a rats ass about art. (ie. Not uploaded to facebook :P)

Some things I'll note, looking back on it:

I'm aware that I botched the perspective on the board on the top of the pole a bit. I've also noticed the transformer on the left isn't perfectly inline with the pole, and that the corners on the telephone control box are a little rounded; detracting from the realism a bit. I'm also not too incredibly proud of the foliage on the trees in the background, however, when I drew it, the focus was only the telephone pole and lines. I added the trees in after the fact to give a bit of background. I wish I had put a little more effort into those trees.

My favorite parts about it, for whatever reason, are the perspective of the lines coming into the foreground, the grain I put into the wood boards, and the pegs and vines leading up the pole. And now that I think about it; I also kind of fancy the line I have coming from the transformer, leading up the board, and through the background trees, (it's supposed to be leading to a building connected to the power grid.)

I drew it without any reference, trying to imagine the pole entirely from memory.
I was attempting to convey a message that, there are many things, some of which considered an eye sore, some of which are man made, and some of which are important to life to the nth degree, that are regularly overlooked and can still be beautiful.

I apologize for the low image resolution, I have misplaced the portfolio it's a part of, and this is the largest resolution I have of it. If I can delete my submission later when I find that portfolio, I'll do so and upload a higher res; and if not I'll link it to a post in the forums.
