Inspired by the real event and the Sabaton song named after it.
The lost battalion was a group of american soldiers who got trapped behind enemy lines in the Meuse-Argonne offensive in WW1. They were outnumbered,, outgunned, and out of luck until one of their homing pigeons, Cher Ami, finally got through to deliver a message that said: “We are along the road parallel to 276.4. Our own artillery is dropping a barrage directly on us. For heaven’s sake, stop it.”. Cher Ami effectively saved what little was left of the 77th division, but lost a leg and was rendered blind. Today, Cher Ami can be found taxidermied at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History in Washington DC.
