do you do portraits for people? how much would you charge?

mephiztophel responds:

It depends on what is wanted. For people that want the canvas rather than a print of the work, the cost is more, this is because canvas is expensive and difficult to get in large sizes with out paying 90+ dollars for it. On that note I only sell the canvas to people who live close to me as the paintings don't do well in the mail. Prints of my paintings are cheaper as I can use a small canvas and resize the image to be larger online. As for mediums, oil is more expensive because it takes a long time to do an oil painting, between the drying times and the fact that mess ups are hard to fix. Acyrilics are faster thus cheaper, as are pastel and inks. Beyond that its more of who much detail is wanted, backgrounds and all that jazz.

hm for example the painting above was $70, because it was oil, the size, and they got the original canvas, a print of it would have been standard rebubble prices.

Love it. And honestly, I don't care about background much.

mephiztophel responds:

I always end up doing floating people and then paint a colour in later to hide it, a bad habit I need to break.

This is awesome. You should send this to him.

Incredible. I honestly jaw-dropped. Fantastic work, and perfect shading.
