I've used Photoshop for this one. Never used it to draw something so far.
I don't claim that this is good, or the likeness is 100%. Just doing something and showing.
This has to be Thorin / from the "Hobbit" movies/. I have read the books too. As far as I remember Tolkien didn't paid too much attention to the personality of Thorin, but from what I remember Thorin was torn by his desire for treasure and the responsibility to his people. Maybe that is more than enough for a book with many characters. Thorin Oakenshield is a man who makes mistakes - often lead by greed and desire for power, but at the end he ends as hero.
I like characters who are not necessary good by nature. Often that kind of guys have to "walk a long way" before they turn into something else they never were. It is normal. There is no just good or just bad people. Even the smallest or insignificant matters sometimes .... ( Although Aesop has a story that explains that insignificant people don't matter ).

This is quite good :) I especially love how you've captured the intensity in his eyes - that was thing I was concerned about the most.

Its the new king under the mountain.

It's a good piece of art :) Of course, you need a little bit of practise, but soon you will be photoshop master.
In my opinion, you should spend some time drawing fur.

This is pretty neat. I like how it is stylized-showing the strokes especially in the forehead. It gives the painting texture. I was also going to say that since you entered this for the cotmman contest you should add under your comments section why you chose to draw Thorin. I believe Jazza wants to know how he inspires you.
