The Steam Spirit

I need to draw some more. Summer has been a bleak period for me concerning that.

Good work, once again.

The only thing I don't like about pencil is it cleans up poorly for a scanner :\

Anyhow, you did a very good job with this image, making the spirit look like something that'd otherwise be fairly inconspicuous.

I could see this in a movie like, say, Spirited Away, in the hotel. She runs to get a teapot and these guys scramble.

Not sure if you know of that one or not, but that's just what it reminded me of :P

Anyhow, good work.

You could darking the shadows more and lighten up some spots but what i really like is the perspective. It looks nice. Check out my work if you have time, as i too work a lot with pencil.

Tea time! :D

Awesome drawing as always, by the way. Gotta love the dark spirited themes throughout your works. This one in particular seems to blend both cartoon and realist art styles. I really think you combined the two rather well. The only criticism I have is that it's a bit too simple. That is, it could stand a little more steam or perhaps a bit more shading.

Luxembourg responds:

Always glad to hear from you, Hobo!
I agree concerning the simplicity. It could always do with a bit more, and by that I also mean that I could have populated the drawing a little more, as well.
I'm glad the blending between realism and stylism worked well, because I was worried the spirit and the kettle didn't mesh very well.
Thank you very much for the comment!

Aweosme :D I think maybe the metal on the tea pot could be highlighted a little sharper, seeing it is metal, but it's still pretty cool ^_^

Luxembourg responds:

You're right. The highlights could be sharper and the drawing could do with some more contrast with shades in general.
Thank you for the comment. I'm glad you like it!

Good design

But the rest looks very flat and lifeless.

Luxembourg responds:

The rest of what? You should really clarify, because I'm not entirely sure what you mean. A single line of thought does not a constructive critique make.
Thank you for commenting anyways, I guess.
