Study of a Lindach

Share

Yes, yes, I know my handwriting is awful. The writing says:

Fig. 1- Lindach sans Mask
Lindachs: British storyteller spirits.
These spirits are close relatives of Bodachs (british child-eating spirits), though differ in a great many ways. Unlike Bodachs, Lindachs do not consume children, choosing instead to tell them stories ranging from nonfiction to fables. They choose to keep their objective the enrichment of the happiness of children. Lindachs tend to visit children as they are nearing sleep in order to help give them pleasant dreams.

Fig. 2- Lindach with Mask
Being relatives of Bodachs, Lindachs have a naturally creepy appearance. To counteract this, they've taken measures and adapted to become less frightening. They have developed fur for the sake of appearing more cuddly. They almost always conceal their mouths, filled with sharp teeth, with masks, in order to avoid frightening children. Lindach fur can be of any color the Lindach desires, but is typically brown or white. When not visiting children, Lindachs tend to haunt libraries and used bookstores, usually gathering in groups of five to ten.
-------------------------
Lindachs are spirits of my own invention. I have a few other pieces featuring them. Just as I did in an earlier piece with the anatomy of a ghost, I felt like creating an encyclopedia-like entry to give a brief explanation of what these spirits are like.
Comments and critique are appreciated. I always respond.

Encyclopedic articles are great!

What I would suggest are more visuals with more viewpoints, to allow the reader to see every facet and construct a better image of the subject.
Another good addition would be some sort of scale reference in some form.

This is good stuff, I would love to see more and more of these :o

Luxembourg responds:

There is no scale to reference; as spirits, they don't have a set size or shape. They usually are around the same size as an adult human though (as the masks they wear are those that people would wear).
I agree that I could make use of more images in conjunction with my pictures. I'm thinking I'll do some more encyclopedia articles in the future (as this is already my second.) Thanks for the advice, Dalenbourg.

awesome

i like the background information you gave.

Luxembourg responds:

Considering the main point was the background info (like in an encyclopedia entry), that's good. Thank you for dropping a comment on this!

sweet

dude he looks friggen tight! espeically wearing the mask!

Luxembourg responds:

Thanks. I'm glad you like it.
