"Day 866: Homo-Chiroptera"

12x18 watercolor, acrylic and ink on canvas

Created for #SpriteDraw

Day 866: This may be my final log entry. We have retreated underground- as they have now completely overrun the surface. There are only four of us left. We.. erm.. I mean.. "they" are continuing to evolve at a rapid rate. God only knows what they're becoming. Their screams haunt every waking hour of my life. I have not slept in days. I can't sleep. I can hear them, but these are no dreams or delusions.. They're down here too..

@idrawbutts recently launched a sprite generator and posed a challenge to artists to draw what they see within a cluster of randomly generated sprites. I generated only one sheet and was instantly inspired. I had a lot of fun creating this painting (#spritepaint ?) and can't wait to bring some more ideas to life! I created this using watercolor and acrylic paint, as well as a variety of different pens and markers. Since I like to torture myself by creating dark paintings that are extremely difficult to get a photograph of, I ran it through a bit of Photoshop therapy. Here are a few fun WIP pictures I took during the making:
