Atlantean Arbitrium [UV]

18x24 Acrylic (+UV) and Ink on canvas

"Atlantean Arbitrium" as viewed under a blacklight. I created this using both regular and UV-reactive neon acrylic paints (some of which also glow in the dark.)

This painting started out as a sketch on a small sticky note back in 2016. True to this day, I had a lot of projects on my plate, so this idea was shelved indefinitely. In mid-2017, I created a series of fluid paintings from pouring acrylic paint diluted with water onto several canvases that would later serve as backgrounds to future pieces. The blue one would serve as the background to what would eventually become this painting. The project was shelved again until spring of 2018, with sporadic progress in the coming months until a full-steam effort for completion was established in August of 2018. Aside from other projects and obligations, there were a few slumps in motivation specifically for this painting, and it was a bit difficult to get excited about until it started coming together.
I had the idea of making the skulls glow in the dark, as I had utilized basic glow paint before as a bonus for people who bought the originals to enjoy. This idea quickly evolved into making the entire painting UV-reactive, something I hadn't previously done, and something I'm incredibly excited about incorporating into newer pieces.

Thank you kind sir!

Not as much detail in this one but it's a trippy style! Neon glow for this show of eons old. Very nice.

Thank you! I almost debated on whether or not I should upload this, but I figured hey why not. This was my first time using UV paints, and I look forward to incorporating them in my work some more! Ultimately my goal is to make multi-sensory pieces that can be viewed a number of different ways and in different lighting.

Amazingly psychedelic! Love this kind of artwork.
