A lot of digital artists you mostly respect for their actual skill with the software. If I'm honest, your work does put me in mind of a beginner with Photoshop, but clearly you're a good artist and have a good eye. That's more than I could say for a lot of new digital artists with their splurges of colour and nail thick lines. Your work reminds me of Simon Stålenhag's.
I usually feel somewhat the opposite (on the skill admiration thing). If you're not painting something interesting, your skills serve only as a surface level facade.
I dunno if i'm a beginner with PS itself, but certainly with various facets of art. I hadn't ever taken a good whack at landscapes/environments until like a month ago. I'd never painted faces with color a few months before that again.
Also, interesting that you were reminded of Stålenhag, that's the guy whose style i admire the most. I don't want to emulate him, but i'd like something in that ballpark.
So what is it, some type of troll? I have to know! Great piece 5/5
Yeah, a troll of some sort. I dunno if it's a lore-accurate one, that wan't really the point for me. Kittelsen sometimes depicted trolls with glowing eyes, so i guess it could be one of those.
Trolls always fascinate me, especially the big ones.
Wow! Love the execution of this, colours are simple but work really well, and that fog is just beautiful, gives off some silent hill vibes. I'm really intrigued as to what it's based off, any links? Either way, this is incredible and you should be really proud of it :)
Thanks. It's not based of anything specific. It's a mix of different troll related norse mythology, and the illustrations by Theodor Kittelsen, as well as a modern artist named Jakub Rozalski.
This is great. A perfect drawing of something mysterious, dangerous and maybe not evil in itself - just unknown
