Mushroom Forest Dance

Share

I really like this song by @Seth (inspired by @Bertn1991's "Purple Noon (2012)") and as soon as I saw there was a Music Inspired Art contest this track came to my mind. I wanted the drawing to be as energetic and mysterious as the music so I added in these funny looking creatures that are all in different styles!

I used Piskel for the Tiki creature, Paint 3D for the floor and Toon Boom Harmony for the rest.

I tried techniques that I've never tried before and I'm very happy with how it turned out. Hope you like it!

Great work on combining Seth's song with your art!
I've never tried combining 2D with 3D, but I know it's not easy and super cumbersome.

Visually and audibly I could see these characters existing in a game with this type of music, so you've definitely met the criteria for MIA2020! Awesome job, and keep up the good work.

This is a fantastic little animation. Love the dances. Nice work!! ^____^

Kutaykomiks responds:

This is a huge compliment coming from the Purple Noon's creator! Thank you so much!

Dude, this is fuckin' great! If for no other reason than just how experimental it is.
I had no idea you could animate 3D Paint... Or do anything of worth with that program, really. The stylistic diversity between the three characters is pretty freakin' sweet too and it all blends together in a pretty satisfying way!

Nice freakin' work!

Kutaykomiks responds:

Thank you!
Paint 3D is a pretty fun program to make 3D shapes, but I guess it wasn't designed for animations. I had to manually turn the object 10 degrees and save it as a PNG about 36 times so it turns 360 degrees. Then I put the images together on Toon Boom Harmony.
