This is the first time I've tried pixel animation! I did it in photoshop, but do you know better programs for pixel animation? Photoshop seemed like it was fighting me the whole time O.o

Absolutely amazing :D I wish I could favorite something twice LOL It it is so beautiful and well done

Kilcra responds:

Aw thanks so much!

Going going going... and never ever getting anywhere! It's a smooth loop, but his running motion feels somewhat flat, maybe because with the silhouette you don't really see him changing leg/side, it's like half the motion it could've been in color. Good stuff though. Background too.

Kilcra responds:

Thanks! Yeah I can understand the motion not being completely clear. That's why I put the buckle on his left shoe to differentiate his feet, but I think it's always going to be a little unclear working with silhouettes.

It's interesting how I know this is a static background, yet it seems to pan to the left anyway.
And Eggman WINKS!

Kilcra responds:

Haha yeah, I'm glad that sort of fake-parallax thing worked! And yeah, originally only his reflection winked, but I decided that would be completely unnoticeable haha.

I thought this was really cool when you posted just the background, but the animation definitely kicks it up a few notches! Also I second Aseprite. I've used it a fair bit for pixel art and animation, and it's definitely much better equipped for doing stuff like this. Reasonably affordable too!

Kilcra responds:

Thank you! Yeah, I'll definitely look into that program for the next time I try something like this.

Nice work! I love the background colors. I'd recommend Aseprite for pixel animation. It has a lot of nifty tools just for pixel art. You should look into it!

Kilcra responds:

Thanks! I'll look into that! As much as I'm married to my photoshop, working on this made me realize the program has some serious limitations with this kind of work haha
