I made it to the end! Both calendars complete!! Linktober 2020 has been FINISHED! The last day's prompt is Free For All so for the shadow calendar I decided to redo the cover image for my Darkness Descended story! Both to update skill and style but also to make some different theme changes. It's been a long ride and holy moly has it been incredible even if tiring! I made it over 100 subs on youtube! last year this time I was only at 50 so that's pretty incredible if you ask me.

We all know the games, you start it up press play and you get a nice little cut scene of how everything goes to shit, but Link is already there waiting to beat it right as it starts… Well not this time, he’s only just been born and the darkness is already spreading. What if he came too late this time? What if the darkness is too firmly rooted? What if …one hero isn’t enough?

Prologue

Two people ran through the woods a man with silver hair and green eyes, and a woman whose long golden hair flowed behind her as she moved, she was with child. A short distance behind them the screeches of creatures created from the darkness could be heard. The creatures had suddenly come from the shadows of the dense forest around them chasing after the two. The woman fell to her knees and tears came to her eyes at the sight of more in front of them, she knew she would not be able to run anymore. The man drew two curved daggers ready to defend her waiting for them to make a move.

“Cease this foolish act of trying to flee us, we will kill you and the child you bear.” A tall figure who stood behind the creatures spoke to the woman. He seemed to be cloaked in the shadows his cold grey eyes glowing in the darkness with malice and annoyance.

“Wha-? Why do you wish to kill my child!?” She yelled and pleaded, “He has yet to even enter this world and has done you no wrong! So why?!” she began to cry in fear for her child’s life.

“He will be the undoing to the darkness, I and my master cannot allow this nor can we allow you to live knowing this. So you will all have to die now.” the voice of the tall figure said in a slightly bored tone.

“You can try!” The silver haired man shouted as several creatures attacked. He dispatched them quickly but more followed. They slowly separated him from the woman he was trying to guard. “NO!” he cried out trying to get back to her side as the shadowed figure moved forward. He raised a hand towards the woman on the ground and it began to glow with an evil light.

“Good-bye bearer of the Chosen Hero.”The energy shot at her from his hand. Just as it collided with her something shot out of the shadows destroying the majority of the energy. “Curses!! Who the hell?!” the figure turned to find who or what had interfered. 

“Mira!!” the silver haired man called to her seeing she was now curled up in massive pain on the ground.

“She is fine, she will be in pain as she was hit but she will not die, at least not here.” A elderly voice said from the shadows. “Now to deal with you.” The one who was trying to attack them went to fire another blast of energy this time directed at the one who had interfered but the newcomer was quicker and killed him with a blast of magic.

“They will find one to replace me,” he coughed out. “The Hero will die. And darkness will reign over Hyrule. It’s decent has already started.” He slumped to the ground dead.

“Who are you?” The green eyed man asked person in the shadows as he heard them start to leave.

“Just a passerby… You should get her back to your city if you want the child to live.” And then they were gone.

“My child…is to be the Hero?” Mira whispered to herself before passing out from the pain.

Upon returning and explaining to the Elder Council about what had happened to them on the road the Council decided to build a large wall around the city but made sure to give it plenty of room so that it wouldn’t get cramped as they grew. But the man that had been with her knew, that it wouldn’t be enough, maybe for now but eventually, the wall would be nothing but for show. He knew the tales. He knew the dark creatures would grow in number and that one day the child Mira carried would have to save them. But the Council wouldn’t hear it saying the wall would be enough. But he knew that, that wall…would become their cage and possibly their downfall.

Three months later Mira died in childbirth giving birth not to one child but to twins. “I don’t understand, the doctor had told us there was only to be a boy. Just one child.” The father said holding one of them a confused and sad look on his face.

“It must have been from whatever that evil man did to her. It split the boy’s soul, I can feel it, they are one in the same.” The man who had been with Mira said, he was holding the other.

“This one shall be Link then,” The father said smiling softly at the slightly older child in his arms, “and the one you hold shall be…
