Let's get straight down to the criticism, the rocky outcrops on the lower left corner look pretty flat, the bends in the attire are far too sharp, they should be more fluid (or perhaps you meant it that way? in that case sorry for not perceiving it that way), the water (despite being beautiful) doesn't blend well with the banks and edges of the pond, it just looks like it was painted over it.
And finally Mother Nature. She looks a little "under-endowed" for someone who is after all, Mother Nature! A little bit more femininity around the chest area would be appreciated. I'm not saying that she has to be busty, in fact if she's too busty it'll cheapen the whole thing, but there should be a little cleavage or some curvature or something because she looks downright flat! For a moment she looked a little androgynous...The ear is also pretty weird.
Now that I'm through with the criticism, this piece is GORGEOUS. I absolutely love the lighting effects and the glowing flowers on the right side, and you've brilliantly captured the time of day which deserves a whole lot of praise in itself because it just seems like a PERFECT capture of that interval. The upper half of the piece is incredible; the canopy and brush and how it fades up into the skyline, perfectly blended.
Finally Mother Nature's pose is perfect; expressive and emotional but leisurely, and so is the expression on her face, they're perfectly matched. She looks aged, or I should say, experienced, but certainly not old. She looks beautiful in a very realistic and believable way.
Overall, I love it. Keep up the great work.
Wow thank you for the awesome Critique. I think that was the most helpful one I've got for this painting yet! Makes me want to bring it back out and rework some things. Thanks for the kind words too.
