Garlene (Genderbent Garcello)

Share

You've seen what Annie looks like as a male, so here's what her smoky friend Garcello looks like as a female.

Rageminer, Garcello's voice actor and the co-creator of his mod, is a transgender woman, just like Atsuover. She came out as trans a few months after the Smoke 'Em Out Struggle mod was released, and changed her name from Chris to Clover (But now she's non-binary and changed her pronouns to they/them). My brother and I found this pretty neat, so naturally, it led me to wonder what Garcello would look like if he was a woman, too. Apparently, this was the answer.

Since Garcello's name comes from the word "cigar" and the name "Marcello", I decided to name his genderswap counterpart Garlene, which comes from the word "cigar" and the name "Arlene". Pretty clever, right?

Like her male counterpart, Garlene smokes magic cigarettes that emit colorful puffs of smoke, and even though she's a heavy smoker, her voice is very smooth, pleasant, and soothing. I imagine her voice to sound just like her male counterpart's in terms of pitch, and if Clover voiced Garlene, I think she/they would use her/their natural voice.

Now, this kind of leads me to imagine some fun scenarios where Garlene and Adrian (Annie's male counterpart) interact with each other in a genderswap AU. I think it would be pretty cool to see how similar their bond would be to Annie and Garcello's. In fact, making genderswap versions of characters is kind of fun itself. The possibilities are just endless!

If Clover saw this, I bet she/they would be really proud. 😁
