Stagecoach Chulhu

Author Comments

A cover commission I have recently done for Jim Phillips which is for one of his up in coming western themed CoC adventure books. I was asked to do a stagecoach being chased by something and we ended up going with Hunting Horrors. This was a fun commission as I had never really explored doing western stuff before. You can check out Jim's adventures on his blog site at www.cthulhu.me/

Looking good as allways. A friend of mine has recently started playing that so maybe I'll have the chance to get/play it some time =)
and thanks for the link.

Wouldn't know what to say about the picture except that HPL probably never bothered with anatomy much . . . his monsters make no effing sense at all. You capture that quite good (is that even a compliment? I'm not sure) IMO.
Keep it up.

I have yet to play COC, but I do have the books and understand the system somewhat. You are also right about the ambiguous nature of Lovecraft's descriptions, but sometimes the weird combinations require some inventive solutions.

great work (:

I've never seen so many great textures in one picture before (or so it would seem)!
Really great to hear this was a fun piece, and it kinda shows!
The human characters seem kinda dwarfed compared to the other subjects... but the excellent composition of elements/background, draws you in very nicely! Looks like a classic game picture from the 80's, only better!

ItoSaithWebb responds:

Thanks, I have of late have been trying to push more on my textures which can creature good contrast.

haha it looks like viper from Dota.
