Messing with photoshop.

Interesting concept

So how did you do this image - did you take a photograph and doctor it, with the black framework and the changes in the lighting? I can see that there's a good blend of factors in this piece that come together in making a nice effect, but I'm a little curious about the methods used to get here.

The colour scheme is interesting, as I've never seen a night sky of that colour, so there is a good, unnatural, even slightly creepy effect. Are you playing towards the Twilight crowd here?

Sorry about such a late response. I remember always getting pissed when I never got responses for my reviews. :P

Anyways this was really just me generating some effects in PS, then using a brush i found to do the plants. Then messing around with opacity and etc. So I didn't do too much for this.

Thanks for the review man, I've been away from NG forever. I'll try to drop by the RRC and request a flash or do some reviews sometime.

I really like the way you made everything so organic in terms of placement, you made very good use of the "canvass".

I like the colors, and the black "grassy" bits add to the dreamy quality this has.
It's really good, but because it's photoshop I shall need to deduct points, very rarely is photoshop work worth really high marks in my eyes.

Feels cold

And warm, both at once.

I'm giving this a seven, mainly because it doesn't make me go "wow". It's a very well-done piece, especially seeing as you say you've only been messing around in Photoshop. However, it seems a similar result could be easily accomplished from using some effects and brushes.

Either way, you composed the picture well. With dark colours, the picture feels cold, but there's something about it that feels really inviting and calming, relaxing. I guess it's the choice of the blue colour.

You did pretty good on cropping out the moon from whatever the original picture was, and I couldn't really see much evidence of it being cropped at all. Didn't even know it was cropped till I read Fro's review, and your response.

Also, I agree with Fro, this one must be viewed in it's full size.

Thanks for the review, good sir!

View at full size!

Wow, this one is truly amazing when being viewed at full size!

Anyway, The color of the sky was absolutely beautiful. I loved the combination of lighter blue, darker blue, and the whites. You had a great color balance in the sky and it really added a lot to the picture. It's by far my favorite part of the submission. That might be a bit biased though as I'm a big fan of the color blue.

You didn't make the moon did you? It seems that you took an already done moon and just cropped it out of it's original picture. I say this because when you zoom in you can see the amount of realistic detail and the edges that looked like you used the magic eraser tool to get all the color away from it. Anyway, if you made it then props to you it's amazing, but for some reason I'm going to assume you didn't create the moon itself.

The wildlife gives the illusion that someone is laying on their back and viewing this site from a field or something like that. The thing is the plants are way too solid and dark. I think if you would have made them a bit lighter and made them slightly thinner/more transparent that you would have had a better view here. That being said, the dark black does give a great balance which focuses our eyes to the blue and the moon, which is obviously the main attraction anyway.

I enjoyed this all around. Keep up the good work.

The moon was not mine, good catch :P

Thanks for the review

For just messing around with photoshop this picture came out really nicely.
It's a very good picture of the moon you chose to mess around with. I also like the choice of colours here, I think it fits very well to the moon.
The darkish colours add a very nice "nightly" touch to the pic. It's as if I was lying on the ground watching the moon on a nice late summer's night.

Thanks a lot, I was going for an upwards view type deal here.
