"Snowflakes swirled in the howling wind, covering the tracks of the small caravan making its way up the mountain path. The caravan leader stopped briefly next to a shaggy pack pony, his gnarled face grim, squinting against the wind to make sure the narrow bridge ahead wasn't blocked or broken by an unexpected rock slide. It was folly to use the roads at this time of year, but winter had been long and hard and the folks back home needed what few supplies they had been able to trade or steal. The ponies trudged on, heads low against the wind. They needed little guiding, having walked the path so many times before."
The opening scene of "Over The Mountains Cold", the prologue of "In The Glow Of The Mountain".
