I TOLD YOU I WOULD IMPROVE!

Share

Be warned, though. The big head was intentional. If that puts you off, then sorry about that. Nothing I can do at this late in the game. Anyways, I tried a technique where I colored over the line art layer by selecting the line layer and giving it a layer mask. So, I'm kind of happy how this turned out. :) Anyways, feel free to rip it to shreds if you feel you must! The time off of Newgrounds has given me a chance to improve a ton, and believe me; I took every second I could.

For once I don't really have huge concerns with anatomy. I mean it's still a little off, But keeping in mind you anime prefrence and the fact you wanted the head big (which to me really doesn't detract from the piece, in my opinion) The hands and feet, which are your weakest areas, are really well done on this one. You tried a pose, and poses are difficult, It's good but stiff. It just doesn't seem right. Again the face is bland. You draw well enough, but you have a really hard time giving your characters depth. Don't get me wrong it's a hard thing to do, but your character always seem... generic? The lighting seems a little off especially since parts of her are mini light sources. Hard to tell where you were going with that. The coloring is in fact a good job. This one's costume is the most fleshed out. The color scheme is pleasing. Black backgrounds are boring and distracting. Though this piece is admittedly better than most of your others, the bold explanation of "I TOLD YOU I WOULD IMPROVE!" has a negative vibe to the piece and makes your critics want to scrutinize all the more. Don't get cocky. Don't say things Like "I am working on those things and have done them." sort of responses because you have reverted to some of the same mistakes in your more recent pieces. What I mean by that: I know your trying, that's implied with each piece, whit each practice, with each drawing. If something gets criticized over and over, whether you are in fact working on it , you haven't "fixed" it yet. I've said this a bunch of times, you have potential. I really hope you understand I want to see you get better, even if it's overdone anime. Practice makes perfect. your on the right track, but don't let get to your head.

I don't think that the big head makes that much of a difference, to be honest. You've still got a good picture here and it all looks good. They hands and face seem in good proportion, compared roughly to my own, so there's no issue there. The hair may make the face look a little bigger, but that's an optical illusion, which we can work with.

The image of the girl herself reminds me quite a bit of Metroid (pick a subtitle, they're all the same), so if that's what you were aiming for, that's got to be good news. I'm not sure about them wearing heels in that game series, though... You've gone to town on the title, which I wish you'd have made relevant, so that people get some sort of idea from that about what the piece is supposed to be. "I TOLD YOU I WOULD IMPROVE!" is more of a first line of the author comments, as opposed to a title.

A lack of background needs to be marked down slightly and so does the large and flamboyant signature that you've used. Make it slightly less conspicuous and perhaps smaller, to prevent distracting the viewer and causing more focus on the actual subject matter.

Very well done, this art does indeed show much promise.

Character - I like the general look of the character itself. Very pronounced and confident looking, which is always good when drawing a face. I noticed you were using the ever popular effect of drawing the eyebrows through the rest of the head, which to me has always been an enjoyable effect. No complaints on this section, very good work.

Colors - I loved the way you used those bright, vibrant colors. They really help to compliment the rest of the character, and are truly impressive alongside the well drawn character. They both compliment each other so well. Keep up the good work!

Overall - Very nice picture, and while it isn't the best, it is very well done, and is a good piece overall. Props to you for this.

Small hands bro'

Def an improvement, but the better you get the more people will expect. youve really put your work into this one however you only have time to improve. See if there isnâEUTMt anything you can do to loosen her up she looks stiff as a board, mainly he face and facial features just donâEUTMt do it for me. The shading is much better and as far as her size it seems almost measurable to perfection.
