More Wonder Women! Girls? Either way, very nice! I'm really excited to see what more you draw of all the different Wonder Women and Girls going forward, and I'm excited to see what else you have in store for us!
I'm officially on a Wonder Woman kick. Strap in, folks, I'm just getting started.
I've surprised myself by fully committing to this project. I haven't started twelve other ones as I work on the project of drawing different versions/incarnations of Wonder Girl and Wonder Woman. I've also had a lot of fun taking different design cues from different incarnations of each one, and putting them together in new or different ways. It's also been a lot of fun to come up with my own characterizations for them!
I've talked about the idea of "the Ultraverse" before, which is just a fancy word for my own personal canon. It's me taking the best bits from all the incarnations of things I like, and putting them into a single, idealized version that mostly occupies my brain. It also entails reworking or omitting things that don't work or I don't care for, so there's that. These designs basically serve as the Ultraverse versions of these characters!
Starting from the left, we have Donna Troy, Cassandra Sandsmark, and Yara Flor.
Donna was probably my favorite to draw of the three. Donna has a more confusing, self-contradicting, complicated history than even most comic characters can boast. She's been put through the wringer so many times that when she's occasionally fallen into villainy, I almost support her. Ultraverse Donna would still go through some rough stuff, but be rewarded for her perseverance and not just pushed around for no reason.
Donna was created as a dark mirror reflection of Diana Prince, which is why I drew her hair as flat black, the same way I draw Diana's. I also shaped her face and features in a way that they almost look like Diana's, but not quite. Her eyes are a darker blue, and the dark, heavy makeup betrays both an angsty disposition and teenaged desire to express oneself bluntly. I love both of her evergreen designs, one being a black onesie dotted with stars, and the other being a black, armor-like suit with silver metal highlights and stars up the sides. I bridged them both together by giving her a starry collar!
Donna has gone by Wonder Girl, and even Wonder Woman, but she's also gone by "Troia," which is the name I'd think she'd stick with. It helps give her some independence from Diana, and less like she's a shadow or reflection of Wonder Woman.
There isn't much to say about Cassie, despite how long she's been around. I have a Teen Titans comic where she's in the spotlight, and even leads the team, but even there she doesn't get a whole lot in terms of personality and depth. She's always seemed like a bit of an outlier in the Wonder lineup to me, so I leaned into that and played it up.
Her outfits are often just a crop top and jeans with some Wonder Woman-themed details, so I gave her a very DIY/homemade costume. Sort of like Kamala Khan's first outfit. Personality-wise, I like imagining her as sort of ditzy, but also incredibly enthusiastic and sweet. She's got a very big heart.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I think Cassie is the only Wonder Girl to be ethnically white. Others have been ambiguously Greek or otherwise non-white, but Cassie is just white. I find it amusing to imagine this ditzy San Francisco valley girl being the only outlier in a group of warrior women.
You'll also notice that she's staring at Donna's rack. That wasn't something I did intentionally, but I like it, so it stayed in.
Yara Flor is the Brazillian Wonder Girl, and the most recent. When I first drew her, I actually got her wrong, by saying that she would become the new Wonder Woman. There's still the chance she could at some point, but I'd still like to clarify that I made a goof.
Whoops.
She was also one of the subjects of my most recent work, before this one, so go check it out. I'm proud of it.
I hope that you guys liked this, and I hope you're excited for more!
Cause boy oh boy, more is coming.

Wonder Girls is right! I wrongly said Yara was the new Wonder Woman, but Donna has actually held that title before. I'm glad to hear that, I hope that you enjoy what's coming next!
I really like to see how committed to this project you are :D Donna is pretty cool and her costume is really good! I'm happy to know that some more are coming, it will help me expand my knowledge about DC (which is pretty limited to some animated movie/series, "must-read" comic books and wiki entries XD)
Thank you so much! It makes me honored to know that I'm furthering someone's interest in that which I'm interested in. Feel free to ask questions and further clarification, I'd love to help out as best I can!
Wow, hopefully Hippolyta will join too someday. Awesome job as always thank you.
Also Cassie would be half white because Zeus being her father?
You know, funnily enough, I hadn't even considered Hippolyta. But thank you for bringing her up, she's on the list now!
Also, good point. I didn't even think about that. Shows what I know!
