Is Phantasy Star IV as good as many people say? I love old-school RPGs, I even enjoy old-school grinding in moderation, but I cannot for the life of me stick with the first two Phantasy Stars for some reason.

Okay, last one from 2019- was that year cursed???
Yes, this was nearly finished and I only wrapped it up this week. Why? ZERO idea, because I know I was excited to get this piece out. It was attempt #2 to improve my human-like cartoon abilities since I mostly do cartoon animals OR comic style human-like characters. For some reason it felt like my brain had only 2 gears and nothing between. I still struggle with this but HEY, ON TO RIKA
She's from Phantasy Star 4, the best 16-bit RPG you never played since you probably had a Super Nintendo or are too young to remember. That said, it's on every system from PS2, PSP, PS3/4 XB360/XB1 Wii, Gamecube, Steam, so on and so forth. It's SUPER good.
She's a Numan, a genetically engineered gal that's a rogue in terms of a class that can insta-kill enemies but also has powerful healing spells. What more do you need? Laser claws? GOT 'EM. Leather gear? Pink hair!? . . . She's a great character and I love her

4 is 100% worth it.
1 & 2 are super grindy & old school in ways that I don't think add anything to the experience.
4 is vastly more modern. Has combo attacks you can trigger, you can make macros to make battles go faster, there's a talk function where characters will discuss where to go, in character so you can't forget where you were going.
Comic, book, cut,scenes. Haven't seen this done since.
The only thing you might not like is the skills are not described outside of the manual, so you might want to grab a guide to know what move is what. Foi=fire Wat=Water/ice Vol=insta-kill hinas=get out of dungeon etc.
