The Demon Within

Here's my submission for the November 2017 C.O.T.M. This piece depicts the fact that we judge people by their appearance. We may feel less/more inclined to help a certain person due to this. In the example I portrayed, we have a person that seems nice and welcoming on the surface, but when you peel back a layer and look beneath the surface, we see that they are broken, torn and freakish. Of course, we all perceive art differently, and there's more than one angle to this piece. I'll let you explore... Enjoy :)

This looks amazing

Thank you,

First of all, i love seeing you grow as an artist. I remember back in grade 5 when you were "Just the kid who drew manga". I think "Grade 5 You" would be blown away by the fact that one day he would be doing this. Its truly been an honour to see you flourish and find yourself through your art. On a side note, what program do you use? I've been using Krita, and getting incredible results, but i'm always on the lookout for new programs ;)

Hey dude, Thanks for the comment! I always think the same thing, but then I get stuck on this; what would happen if you knew everything you were going to create in the future... Would you still make those things? Or would they change... Anyways, I use Clip Studio Paint EX to make my art. It's got a really nice user interface with a crapload of options and it's super customisable, from layout to brushes to tool pallets... It even lets you model things in 3D if you want to make your own pose using a model. I don't use the 3D feature, but I think it's pretty cool. The EX version of the program is going to cost you a nice 280 CAD dollars, which isn't too bad... For all that it offers, I'd say it's a pretty good deal. You can also just get the pro/standard version for just 65 CAD dollars... which is way more affordable, but you don't have as many features and unlimited stuff as the EX, of course.

See ya later Quinn,

NDS

Great job. I'm not a digital artist so I don't know how hard it is to draw on a computer but I think the chin is off center just a LITTLE bit. I also thought that maybe the mouth was a little off too. It looks really beautiful though! And thanks for your nice comment on my drawing as well! Cheers!

Nathan-Desjardins responds:

Hey, I've noticed... Let me see if I can fix the chin... And if you're interested in seeing how I drew it, check out the timelapse I linked in the description, it should give you an idea of how I do digital art. Thanks for your comment!

The fact that i was able to recognize who made this while i've only seen one other piece (Rosalia level cap) says a lot on how well you have established in creating your own style.

++ Love the smirk and the way the torso looks.
+ The muscle tissue look freaking amazing
+ The scars and the overlap in the middle are extremely well mad
-/+ The chin feels a little of center but that could just be me.
- The collarbone is diffrent on both sides of the body left is curved and right is straight.

Just my opinion on your amazing art work
Keep it up!!!

Thanks for the pointers! Helps me improve on my next piece.

Cheers!

I really love the way this looks. I just love the paint look of it, the hair especially. I'd love to reach this skill level one day. Keep up the great work

Thanks for the compliment! Means a lot to me... And it's corny, but practice practice practice, and you will achieve your goal. We've all heard this before, and that's because it's true. Keep drawing as much as you can!
