HSL-7 "Buffalo" 3-2-2 by Toros Engines

Share

The Hovering and Spacefaring Locomotives (HSL) are vehicles dedicated to high-speed transportation of various goods, fuels, and passengers.

The unit we can see above has been nicknamed "Buffalo" and is part of the 7th iteration of HSL by Toros Engines, one of the most important companies when it comes to interstellar travel and freight. In the present case, the Buffalo is commonly used to transport canisters of F-GL ship fuel, usually pulling 25 cars at once, although there has been cases where it has been seen pulling up to 60.

It uses a set of thrusters in a configuration of 3-2-2. This means that the three front pairs of thrusters are dedicated to direction, the following two pairs are made for propulsion, and the last two pairs are there for stabilisation. When in space, the directional thrusters are used in conjunction with the driving thrusters, so as to reach FTL speed.

Each car is fitted with stabilizing thrusters, and in between are special devices called "Booster Blocks". These have two functions. One is to link the train and the cars together, providing stabilisation in the process. The other one is to add speed, to compensate for the added weight, and contribute to the overall FTL capability of the vehicle.

With how cheap and easy to deploy en masse HSL are, it is no wonder why they have known such a rapid growth in popularity over the last decades, and as so, Toros Engines has become a mainstay of the industry.
