By the way Sans has the kindness soul in context of this thus explaining his green aura rather than yellow.

He essentially tries to “kill frisk” with the kindness from the influence the green soul gives him, even helps heal the human during the fight sometimes. He essentially wants Frisk to be taught their lesson and to make them acknowledge they’re capable of change, despite it coming across as off putting to the player due to his shifted mannerisms. I’d imagine instead of killing you, Sans would do a restart of the battle similarly to when frisk does a save state.
