"Oh, if it weren't already, I would feel Green!"
Next up on the Cartoon Cuties, and last of the batch for now, is Flora Fauna, one of the Supporting Characters from the 1983 animated surrealist movie Twice Upon a Time, Directed by John Korty and Charles Swenson, Produced in association with Lucas Films and the Ladd Company (Best known for producing the first 2 Police Academy Movies), and is the first animated film Produced by Lucas. Flora was voiced by Julia Payne and her character was the dear niece of Greensleeves, and the eye candy of the Characters of Mumford, Rod and Scuzzbopper - who aspires to become an actress.
The Movie was given a limited release (along with the Right Stuff that same year) by Ladd, as it was facing Bankruptcy at the time, and sadly both bomb at the Box Office, and despite the Success of the first Police Academy film, the company would break away from WBs in 1985, becoming a nonexclusive production organization, with its last movies been Police Academy 2 and Doing Time in 1985.
A Revival for Ladd was carried out in 1995 with Braveheart, and ended in 2007, with Gone Baby Gone.
Alternative Versions of the Movie seem to exist.
In the Movie, she learns her Uncle, who is in charge of Providing Sweet Dreams to the Rushers (Humans) of the City of Din along the Figmen of Imagination, was kidnapped (unbeknownst to her and the main heroes) by Synonamess Botch of Murkworks, who provides Nightmares and plots to stop time to make it permanent; he tricks the Main Heroes, Ralph the All-Purpose Animal and Mum (Mumford) in stealing the Main Spring from the Cosmic Clock, while Flora becomes an actress in his Productions - Mostly doing Screaming and she loves it.
But her acting career is cut short, thanks to Rod Rescueman, who confuses one of her acts for a genuine situation of distress, knocks her out, and takes her to his Sport theme Blimp; after waking up, and been accosted by Rod's annoyance, she ends up falling from the Blimp and crashing onto Botch's Giant Robot Snake, saving Ralph and Mum. She learns from them that Botch was behind her uncle's kidnapping and truth of his Plans. Flora, along with Rod and later Scuzzbopper (head Writer of Murkworks), teams up to save Greensleeves and the Rushers, Recover the Spring and Stop Botch.
In the chaos, she rescues her Uncle, but is capture by Ibor, Botch's TV Robot Gorilla; with Rod been ineffectual at rescuing her, Flora saves herself by destroying the Robot, tearing the components out. After Ralph and Mum defeat Botch and Destroy his Plans, the Spring returns to the Cosmic Clock, Flora thanks her friends and she, along with Rod and Scuzzbopper, assume command of the newly reformed Murkworks.
Originally, Miwa, from Jeeg, was intended to be the 10th Cartoon Cutie, but the Pic was removed as it didn't came out alright - So Flora, who was drawn 11th was move as 10th - and also, it was made after I learn of the passing of Alan Ladd, who championed for this movie. For years, I did not knew the name of this one, up until CartoonBrew announced Mr. Ladd's passing on March 2nd.
Update (3/17/22) John Korty, the movie's director has passed away - RIP.
