How to Be a Pirate

Share

An illustration project for college where we had to create, draw, and than paint with 'wet media' a new cover to an existing book. While I selected a large range of books and created thumbnails for various covers, this one was selected and finished by my teacher/class. 'How to Be a Pirate' from the Misadventures of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III' aka the 'How to Train Your Dragon' book series. It not included but this image had to keep in mind where the text for the title/author/etc would go, as such the top half does seem a little 'empty'. (perhaps I should upload a version where the text would show)

The piece was a little too bright, and I should push the contrasts in the water a bit more, but really I'm proud of this piece, it took a lotta effort with little time.

Awesome!

I love the use of colors... amazing :)

Wonderful colors

Bright and whimsical treatment of the usual swashbuckling... nice children's book inflection style :-)
