Context: So... we decided to make a series of comics based on the Baba Yaga and Vasilisa the Beautiful because we got involved in reading a lot of folklore centered around those characters. We wanted to be mildly authentic to Russian folklore... but we are still completely messing it up at the same time, of course.
Collaboration: Mainly we came up with the concepts and jokes together, tossing ideas back and forth. She sketched most of the originals while I "inked" them in Adobe Illustrator.
Concept: They live together, I guess. I'm not really sure why, though. Perhaps young Vasilisa hasn't gotten the fire from the old crone yet, but it's more likely that Vasilisa lacks the proper mental capacity to escape. I'll leave that all up to you as the reader to decide. Another part of the gag is that Baba Yaga seems like some sort of weird cannibalistic parental figure.
There will be more of these soonish... contrary to what might be insinuated by the comic.
