Barrett .50 Cal

Share

This is a Barrett M-82 .50 caliber sniper rifle I did in about 2 and a half hours. I added a lot more detail since I did my last gun the AK-47. I think I really went all out on this one and I think it's my best art so far.

good job

i happen to know alot about this gun and this drawing is identicalto the real gun and yes the mag is sapose to be slanted like that and the holding bar by the scope is not blocking the scope as it is off to the side of the gun and when firing the holding bar folds under the gun this is the most detailed drawing ive seen for this preticuler gun. good job man

Thank you, I made this about 3 years ago, it means a lot to see people still view my old work.

Nice :)

This is a really good drawing of a gun, and although, like Haggard, I barely know anything about guns, at least I know how they look like and I'm telling you, this looks a lot like one.

Shading gave this picture a really cool 3D effect, especially the shading at the very left, but when it comes to the scope, I think the shading could've been done a little better since the shading was a little too dark at the bottom. Other than that, the shading was perfect. Colour scheme was excellent as well, maybe a bit too bright, but I don't know if that's how the gun is in real life.

The gun itself was drawn really well, and is the perfect shape, but after reading Coop83's review (and only understanding half of it...), I think he is right about the scope being too far down. As for the background, there wasn't any, which was really what gave you a 9. I like CaptainAwesome's blueprint idea, or you can at least simply make a person holding it, sniping off opponents high up on a building. If you can make a gun this good, I'm sure you can make a background that good.

It's a really cool looking gun, that only needs a background to compliment it. Keep up the good work, and sorry for the useless and short review, guns aren't my strong point.

Well you review was pretty damn good if you ask me. Thanks for reviewing.

Pretty good

A pretty realistic drawing of a sniper rifle. I would call into question a couple of the details there, like the sniper scope appears to be looking straight at something obscuring the field of vision. If that's a laser sight, it might be slung slightly under the barrel of the scope, to increase accuracy.

Secondly, the magazine - shouldn't it be curved, to aid the soldier in removal and reload? It does looks quite nice and light weight, but it does appear that little bits and pieces are not quite accurate. There's no finger grooves for supporting the piece just in front of the magazine and I know that all sniper rifles don't come with the front mounted stands, but this might benefit from one.

Of course, I'd much prefer to see one in a combat situation, covered in camouflage, ready for proper action.

Like I said at the start, it's pretty good. Not bad, but a few little issues that I have. From an artistic point of view, I'd have changed the background from transparent, as it's difficult to pick out when you view it in full size, as it's dark, like NG's background.

fallensoul289 responds:

Funny as it may seem that's supposed to be there. No the magazine should not be curved I had a picture for reference. Another thing is this model does not have a bipod and some snipers fire these in the prone postition. all the details are supposed to be there and are the way they are exactly from a picture. I'm all about details. Anyhow thanks for the review.

Something Worth Taking Into The Firing Range.

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this drawing? The gun' shape is near pefection and the many details included in this model give the gun a near lifelike look to it. However, it could've used some background behind it. My sugestion, lay the weapon in a white background with red arrows pointing at different parts of the rifle like a blueprint ad. It's a good thing that these drawings aren't real, or else we'd have one dangerous arms dealer in our hands...or is he...?

fallensoul289 responds:

Thanks your review was very creative and different. Your blueprint plan is pretty good except maybe have a grid and the backround blue instead of white.

Very good

I'm not an expert when it comes to weapons (read: I don't know anything about them), but this looks very realistic. Especially when viewed in Full Size one can see how many details you actually put in there. In the smaller size all those details are lost and the weapon looks quite bland.
So my tip: View this in full size, folks!

My most favorite detail is the shadow from the scope. Most weapons I've seen so far in the art portal don't have any shadows or light reflections at all, so this little detail really lets your work stand out from the rest.

Thanks I do try to work hard and when I motivate myself enough I can stand out from the rest
