New Year 2021

Share

2021

I spent a while thinking about how to approach a New Year piece. My initial idea was to just add the numbers somewhere but I wanted to be more creative. So I ended up hiding the 2021 in the silhouettes of the characters in the painting. And in case you’re still missing it, the dragon is the 2, moon is 0, swan another 2 and the lady is 1. Squinting your eyes and looking at it again can help additionally.

As for the New Year itself, I bet a lot of us are eager to send 2020 off on its merry way. Although it’s been an interesting year for me, I can’t say I haven’t experienced some losses due to the overall situation in the world. However, I remain an optimist. I can’t go ahead and just say that 2021 is going to fix everything, I can’t even say it’s going to be a better year. A lot of people fear that we will soon see the negative side-effects of previous events and their fears are rational. However, plenty of disasters and bad things have a way of bringing new opportunities with them. Tough times help us see who the real heroes and friends around you are, and what you are capable of. So that would be my take-away from this year. Adapt and overcome, don’t let the doom and gloom get to you and always be on the lookout for what the world has to offer you!

Cheers and I hope you have a happy New Year 2021!
