Creative playlist standout: Deftones - Deathblow

I spent more time on this than I intended. I set out with the idea of re-imagining a painting I did from 2004, not only to see my maturation as an artist, but also to see my growth from what I was experiencing at the time. To further engross myself in the process, I listened solely to music I was listening to in 2004. It was a very compelling experience and it forced me to try different techniques as well.

"These intersecting paths twist and turn away from each other,

As we are not who we thought we were.

Though bound what we designed

(which will prosper long after we're gone)

Whether it festers or grows,

all things thrive in their own way.

And while defined by our choices,

memories will still erode in time.

Saturate them enough and they begin to cut less.

To look beyond is to surrender to hindsight,

and mistakes will reveal lessons learned,

further down the road."

Lemme look up the original version and… Yeah, this definitely beats the 2004 piece! But it’s only because the side profile of the woman is a bit off: everything else about the 2004 version has this very nice dark, gothic detailing to it that gives its own feel the 2023 version doesn’t have.
