Hey! To start this decade right, we believe Newgrounds should be ad-free for EVERYONE. For this to work, we need people who have the means to become paying supporters. For just $3 per month or $25 for the year, you can help this happen and get some nice perks!

For the month of April we have disabled ads on all E-M content. We need 39 people to reach our goal of 3,000 active supporters. If we hit that, we'll continue with a new goal in May!

Please check out our Supporter Upgrade and consider coming aboard!

Singing Cactus

Share

My gf asked me if I could paint a cactus listening to music, so I did.

You know, I grew up thinking I could be all by myself and stuff and go through life alone. I thought I could simply keep my head down and just work and become an artist. I believed that would make me happy and whole, but the more I drew by myself, the more I isolated myself from my friends, and the more I felt empty. I would randomly burst out crying while drawing or while in bed. I started having a very negative view about art.

My gf helped me see my art had value, even if it's sometimes dumb, or if I didn't really love the outcome. She made me feel like a kid again, running up to my parents and brothers to show them my new drawing. I realized then that drawing had always been a means to an end. It was a way for me to bond and to communicate. I found myself looking back at my happiest moments with art and how they were always shared with a friend.

Sometimes life presents you with the most amazing beings you'll ever meet and you can't help it but keep them near your heart forever. In there they make everything run smoothly and give you the colors you paint with.

I know she sometimes reads these so, my cheese, I love you :)
