The game was won, but to what end?

I've never been very good at chess. I think I've probably won one or two games total. However, I find the imagery in this sketch to be intriguing because of the possible interpretation that the game was won for nothing in the end, because the last piece standing is now alone in a vast, baron land. Well, maybe not completely baron considering the presence of the trees, but they don't seem very lively all the same. I like wormofsand's interpretation as well though because it's probably closer to how a chess player would interpret it.

Alone to contemplate strategy

Chess the ultimate game of strategy should always be played in an area there there are little to know distractions. I can think of no better place then at the top of a mountain surrounded by clouds.

The lines of you work draws your attention to the lone piece on the board (is it a king or queen? I really can't tell) then it to the top of the mountain. From their the slop takes back down to the edge or the picture which starts the cycle all over again. Personally I love art that does this. It makes your eyes constantly move around taking in the whole of the piece.

Thank you for this wonderful work of art.

I love how random this is, yet leaves me speachless. another reason this is awesome! plus 5 greedy points for black and white, color ruins everything.
